"Phishing" Alert

Recently, there have been multiple “Phishing” scams that were initiated via email sent to both the general public and to some credit union members that appeared to be from NCUA. This false email asked for the recipient to clink on a link to verify their account registration. If the recipient proceeded to do so, the link directed them to a false website and asked for their credit union account number and PIN.

If you or anyone you know responded to this or a similar email and provided any confidential account information, please notify us of the scheme.

To report this crime, go to www.cybercrime.gov. This is the Department of Justice’s site for reporting and identifying cyber crimes. On this homepage, scroll down to the section titled General Information and click on the link for How to Report Internet-Related Crimes. This will take you to a list of specific crimes and give links for the appropriate law enforcement agency for reporting the crime. For Phishing, the law enforcement agencies are the local FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and Internet Fraud Compliant Center.

You may also contact the NCUA Fraud Hotline to report Phishing at 1-800-827-9650.
