Senators defeat Sabres in Game 1, 7-5
Craig Anderson shines with 18 saves; Senators lead series, 1-0
OTTAWA (AP) --- Senators 7 Sabres 5 Sens fans were wondering if Game 1 would ever happen, as the Sabres and Canes had some complications, but league officals made a decision, and the Sabres nonetheless advanced to the second round of the NHOL playoffs. The whole city of Kanaata was rocking as Sens fans were pumped to see their boys in action. The Senators got on the bored early with a nice one timer from Bobby Ryan and while the fans were still celebrating, Nick Paul tucked a PPG to make the score 2-0. You could feel the energy in the building as Sens fans couldn't believe that they took an early lead against a strong defensive Sabres team. Jack Eichel and Victor Olofsson scored goals minutes apart to tie the game and after the first it was 2-2. For the rest of the game the Senators took advantage of mistakes and put the game away, with a mix of good offense and lockdown defense when needed to make the score 7-5 for a big statement win in game 1.
