Devils defeat Panthers in Game 5, 3-2
P.K. Subban notches game-winning goal; Devils win series, 3-2
NEWARK (AP) --- Much like most of the series, game 5 was a close one. NJ got the huge first goal from Will Butcher when he riffled a one timer from the point that bounced off a Florida defender and in the net. NJ followed that up with a snipe from the slot by Jesper Bratt. Then Frank Vatrano scored with 11 seconds left in the first period. Heading into the third NJ had the lead 2-1. Early in Dadonov would score on a penalty shot. Minutes later PK Subban would score what would end up being the game winner on the PP. Florida had a chance on a PP with 48 seconds left but Sasha Barkov took a bad penalty which ended Floridas hopes. A great close series, NJ moves on to round two. They will face the Detroit Red wings or Pittsburgh Penguins
